The Men's World Handball Championship is an international competition held every two years under the auspices of the International Handball Federation since 1938. France is the most successful team with 6 titles, followed by Sweden and Romania with 4 titles each. The current title holder is Denmark, who are seeking to achieve their fourth consecutive title in the current tournament.

The 29th edition of the tournament will be held from 14 January to 2 February 2025, jointly organized by Denmark, Croatia, and Norway. Thirty-two teams will participate in this edition, divided into 8 groups in the preliminary round, with the top three teams from each group qualifying for the main round, while the remaining teams will compete for the President's Cup.

One of the most prominent teams participating in the current tournament is Egypt, who qualified for the quarter-finals for the fourth consecutive time after defeating Cape Verde 31-24. The Egyptian team will face its French counterpart in this round, seeking to reach the semi-finals for the second time in its history after the achievement of 2001.

For its part, the Spanish team was eliminated from the tournament before the knockout stage. Coach Jordi Rivera commented on this exit by saying that the team is in a building phase, and that such defeats are considered turning points for improving performance in the future.

The tournament continues with the quarter-final matches, where the qualified teams compete to reach the final stages and win the world title.
